Enjoy 7 Ways to Decorate with Live Greenery!

It's time to toss the mums and pumpkins and replace them with holiday decor. Porch Pots are a really simple way to dress up your home for the holidays. We like to use a variety of greens for texture and color. Typically we recommend starting with a large piece in the center such as a spruce top, but in this case, we used 3 birch poles for height. Birch poles great white color and curly bark pop against the greens and can be used year after year. Once the holidays are over, you can use them in your home year round. The greens featured in this custom winterscape include green eucalyptus, cedar and noble fir.

Free Tip from The Pros: Spray all your greens with Wilt Stop or Wilt Pruf to extend their life! Can be used indoors and out.

For this porch pot we wanted to add some additional color and sparkle. The bright navy blue eucalyptus adds a rich velvety feel to the pot. For sparkle we added Platinum Vine Balls.

All these pieces can be purchased individually at The Barn Nursery.

Porch pots can be used for decor inside the home and out. This porch pot was designed to be tall, and would be perfect in the entry way of a home. The curly willow adds height and color and is multi-purpose. Curly willow bunches can be added to any dried floral arrangement or put in a vase for year round use.

In this design we added gold and copper to match the gold in the curly willow. The Copper Glitter Allium stems are beautiful and unique and the Wild Thistle is a great way to feature natural decor, with a twist in your holiday decorating.

There is a mix of fresh greens used in this porch pot including cedar and noble fir branches.

We love, love, love a pretty mailbox. This lovely creation features a great variety of greens, balsam roping, ribbon and more.

Start by winding a piece of balsam roping from the bottom to the top of the mailbox post ands secure it with wire.

Easy Cheat: Purchase one or two pre-made door swags and tie them on either side of the mailbox. Voila! A gorgeous holiday mailbox.

Or if you are feeling creative, grab some greens, pine cones and ribbon and get to work. This mailbox features magnolia branches for some added richness and color. We also think oregonia would work well in a design like this, if you want a pop of white.

Red is always a classic when it comes to outdoor color and is used probably 90% of the time just because it probably does show up best. But if red isn't your thing, stop by The Barn and take a look at the variety of ribbon we have in stock. We will happily make the bow for you too!

Ice Globe Lanters are one of the hottest trends in holiday decorating this season and they are easy peasy to make. We promise! We sell Ice Globe Lanterns kits that make this very Martha-esque decorating item quick and easy.

Ice Globes can also be used indoors and out. Put a candle inside to light up the night as you welcome guests to your Holiday Party or use it inside as a centerpiece.

Add some cranberries or winterberry with some greens to accent the ice.

Money Saving Tip: Cut a few branches from the bottom or the back side of your fresh tree and use them in your holiday decor!

Birch Poles are everywhere this year and we love their ability to be used year round in a variety of spots. Bring in your box or pot and we will hand cut birch logs or poles to make a centerpiece or in this case, a fireplace decoration. Add some Christmas light and those extra greens from your Christmas Tree and you have yourself a very Merry little custom indoor decoration.

We have heard so many people complain they have stopped using fresh trees for a variety of reasons. Too Big, Too Messy, Not Enough Space etc. But we would say 90% of these customer miss both the tradition and the look. It just isn't the holidays without a tree to decorate!
